We are looking for an experienced, highly organized, effective communicator who works well in fast-paced environments to help lead us to victory in 2024 as Deputy Operations Director. This deputy director is responsible for helping to oversee the operations infrastructure for a statewide coordinated campaign as our operation scales up for the 2024 cycle. This position requires some flexible hours and eagerness to assist on any task. We are seeking folks from a variety of backgrounds and professional experiences. 

This position will report to the Chief Operations Officer and is based in Detroit, Michigan. 

Responsibilities 

  • Work closely with the Chief Operations Officer to manage day to day operations needs for the campaign.
  • Collaborate on projects with Leadership, Organizing, Political, and other teams.
  • Manage procurement and logistics for office expenses and events.
  • Address operations issues and needs from staff in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all expenses across the organization are tracked and remain within budget.
  • Coordinate and track staff and volunteer needs, including supplies and technology assets.
  • Assist operations staff with payroll and other HR processes, including onboarding and offboarding.
  • Other duties as assigned, to support the department and organization’s mission.
  • This position’s schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and point in the cycle and is likely to require evening and weekend work over the course of the election cycle.

  • Technical Proficiency – Highly proficient in Excel/Google Suite with experience working from shared databases and workbooks.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications 

  • At least one cycle of general campaign experience with campaign operations or field experience AND/OR at least two years of operations experience strongly preferred.
  • At least 3 years of work experience. 
  • Prior budgetary experience.
  • Prior staff management experience
  • Committed to electing Democrats up and down the ballot.

This position offers a salary of $6,500 – $7,500 per month based on experience and includes a full benefits package with health, vision and dental insurance.

The Michigan Democratic Party is seeking experienced Field Organizers to organize communities across Michigan in 2024. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to building the grassroots turnout operation needed to re-election President Biden and win elections up and down the ballot for Democrats in November 2024. 

This position will report to the Regional Organizing Director and is based in Michigan. 

Responsibilities 

  • Recruit, train and manage fellows and volunteers to conduct direct voter contact.
  • Coordinate volunteer events included but not limited to in person canvasses, phone banks and community meetings. 
  • Utilize a number of tactics and tools to hit daily and weekly metric goals including but not limited to phone recruitment, texting, high traffic canvassing, canvassing and tabling. 
  • Recruit, manage and train volunteer leaders to execute a large scale GOTV. 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Previous campaign experience as staff or volunteer preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to work in the field office and in the community you are assigned.
  • Commitment to electing all Democrats up and down the ballot. 
  • Flexible, adaptable and solutions-oriented. 
  • Must have access to a cell phone, vehicle and ability to relocate if necessary. 

This is an hourly position starting at $17.34 per hour. Organizers will start out with a 55 hour work week with hours expected to increase at the start of general election early voting. This is a Union position. This position includes a full benefits package of health, vision, and dental insurance coverage.

We are looking for motivated Regional Political Directors to join our Michigan coordinated campaign team and support the Political and Coalitions Director in building diverse coalitions and mobilizing stakeholders for the 2024 election. Ideal candidates are passionate about political change, have at least one election cycle of experience in campaigns in Michigan, and skilled in community outreach and coalition building. We are seeking people from a variety of backgrounds and professional experiences.

These positions will report to the Deputy Political Director and are based in various regions across Michigan.

Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with impactful grasstops leaders and their organizations
  • Execute the campaign’s political and coalitions plan that includes stakeholder management, a coalition outreach program, and a surrogates program
  • Track engagement with coalition and political partners
  • Manage and strengthen political relationships with allies, elected officials, county parties, and supporters
  • Correspond with key coalition groups for grassroots events, earned media, and paid communications opportunities
  • Work across departmental structures to integrate key constituency and stakeholder outreach with other departmental tactics to ensure culturally relevant pathways to increasing engagement
  • This position’s schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and point in the cycle and is likely to require evening and weekend work over the course of the election cycle.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information with tact and discretion.
  • Strong strategic planning skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Ability to develop and sustain effective relationships with key people both inside and outside of the organization.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications 

  • Deep relationships with key stakeholders in state, including campaign work during at least one cycle in state 
  • Political experience in Michigan
  • Experience building and managing coalitions to take meaningful action with the campaign
  • Strong understanding of culturally competent community organizing and demonstrated ability to work with grassroots community organizations

The Michigan Democratic Party is seeking a highly motivated training deputy to join our growing team. Michigan will be one of the most closely-watched battleground states during the 2024 election cycle, and the Training Department will play a critical role in ensuring our program is able to effectively and efficiently reach voters across the state to re-elect Joe Biden and Democrats at all levels. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to building the grassroots turnout operation. 

This position will report to the Training Director and will be based in-person in Michigan. 

Responsibilities 

  • Provide training support for one or more specific campaign departments, including Organizing, Voter Protection, Data, and Digital 
  • Assist in drafting content for in-person and remote trainings to on-board organizers in the state, ensuring they have context, skills, and practice needed to be successful 
  • Assist in running in-person and remote trainings, ranging from how to canvass door to door, phonebank, organizing and engaging their network 
  • Collect reports and feedback to ensure successful achievement of statewide goals and objectives 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Training Director.

  • Design Ability – Has the skill to create high-quality content, including graphics, video, and text, rapidly and on-message.
  • Experience on a political campaign (such as field role or internship/fellowship) is preferred but not required 
  • Must have access to a vehicle and ability to relocate if necessary

This position is salaried at $5,000 per month and includes a full benefits package with health, vision and dental insurance. This is a temporary cycle position.
