Position: Communications Director, Michigan Democratic Party

Jason Moon has left us to become Public Information Officer at the Office of Financial and Insurance Services (OFIS). We wish him, Amy and baby Logan well. We are seeking a new Communications Director.

POSITION:    Communications Director, Michigan Democratic Party.

RESPONSIBILITIES:    Under the supervision of the Chair, is responsible for all internal (Michigan Briefing, Party newsletters, Web Page, e-mail, etc.) and external (press conferences and briefings, media monitoring, radio and TV ads, etc.) communications, as well as opposition research.  During the six months prior to November in a General Election year, duties may be changed to include working on campaigns.

QUALIFICATIONS:    A commitment to the goals and ideals of the Democratic Party is a prerequisite. Requires experience in external press relations and internal organizational communications, Internet capability, and computer literacy.  Must be able to work independently in a challenging political environment.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:   $40,000 - $55,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Medical, dental and optical insurance and a 401(k) pension plan. Reimbursement provided for certain work-related expenses including mileage.
