Speaker Jase Bolger’s Hometown Paper Rejects Him for Endorsement

Kalamazoo Gazette Urges Voters to Consider Bolger’s Opponent, Democrat Bill Farmer

LANSING – The top Republican in the Michigan House of Representatives, Speaker Jase Bolger, has failed to win the endorsement of his hometown newspaper, the Kalamazoo Gazette, which today published a scathing editorial that urges voters in the 63rd House District to consider voting for Bolger’s opponent, Bill Farmer.

From the Gazette’s editorial:

“While the Republicans have chosen to retain him as Speaker of the House, voters do not have to retain him as their representative in the 63rd House District, which covers eastern Kalamazoo County and half of Calhoun County. Here is a clear opportunity for the people to say that ethics matter and politicians will be held responsible for their actions through the electoral process….

“Jase Bolger has shown a reckless disregard for the responsibilities of his office and in doing so, shown a disappointing lack of respect for voters in his district and across the state.”

A one-person grand jury is currently investigating House Speaker Jase Bolger, Rep. Roy Schmidt and others for recruiting fake candidate Matt Mojzak to run against Schmidt, helping Mojzak to file a fraudulent candidate affidavit and then covering up their involvement in the scheme.
