Republican Candidate Running Against Rep. Roy Schmidt Rejects Speaker Bolger’s Leadership

Bing Goei Pledges to Ask for ‘New Leadership Going Forward’

LANSING – As the candidate with the closest viewpoint on House Speaker Jase Bolger’s election-fraud scandal, Republican write-in candidate Bing Goei is now the first to publicly reject Bolger’s leadership, after writing in an email to supporters that he would support new leadership in the House GOP if elected.

“As more and more dirty deeds emerge in this election-fraud scandal, Michigan Republicans are starting to abandon Jase Bolger,” Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer said. “They will have to make the choice between defending Speaker Bolger or defending democracy. Those that stand with Bolger will have to face the voters and explain why they’re satisfied with a leader that attempted to undermine the electoral process, perpetrated a fraud on voters and then lied about it to cover up his involvement.”

The Grand Rapids Press cited the following quote from an email Bing Goei sent to supporters:

“If the voters decide to elect me to serve them in the House, I will ask the Republican members of the House to elect new leadership going forward,” Goei said. “Leadership that will regain the confidence and trust of the citizens of Michigan. Leadership that will enable us to focus on what we are called to do, to serve our constituents.

“I am committed to that type of leadership and will challenge any representative that I feel does not measure up to the high standards I have for the Republican Party.”
