Bishop’s Plan to Extend Own Term Limits – The Height of Hypocrisy

LANSING – Today Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer strongly criticized Republican Senate Leader Mike Bishop and his plan to extend his own term limits in the State Senate. On Off the Record on Friday, Bishop said he supports a plan to increase term limits for State Senate members from 8 to 12 years.

“Mike Bishop’s plan to extend his own term limits in the State Senate is the height of hypocrisy. Bishop is more concerned with his job than he is with jobs of all of Michigan’s citizens,” Brewer said. “Bishop has delayed cutting his own salary, stalled on a state budget agreement and forced a partial government shutdown and now he wants to extend his time in the State Senate. Michigan voters do not need an extra four years of Senator Bishop.”
