Multiple Choice Mitt Romney Flip-Flops Again

Romney comes to Michigan while national media focuses on his shifting positions

LANSING– Today Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer criticized GOP Presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Governor Willard “Mitt” Romney for his constant flip-flopping as Romney visited Michigan for high dollar fundraisers. Just yesterday, the New York Times wrote an article about Romney’s shifting positions on stem cell research.
 
“‘Multiple Choice’ Mitt Romney’s flip-flops on stem cell research are just the latest example that he is willing to say anything to get elected,” Brewer said. “Romney’s so desperate for the Republican nomination that he is willing to alienate most of Michigan by opposing life-saving stem cell research. If Romney gets the Republican nomination, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has more ‘epiphanies’ on many of the extreme stances he has flip-flopped into. ”  

Romney's has also severely flip-flopped on many issues including, in his position on a woman's right to choose:

A. Abortion Should Be Safe And Legal. "I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country... I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years that we should sustain and support it. And I sustain and support that law and the right of a woman to make that choice." (Romney Kennedy Debate Transcript, 10/1994)

C. Not Pro-Choice Or Pro Life. "I've never used either title, pro-life or pro-choice, in the past. I said I don't favor abortion." (Fox News, 2/26/06)

D. Firmly Pro-Life. "I recognized that we had so cheapened the value of human life, through the Roe v. Wade mentality, that I could no longer stand on the sidelines, if you will. I had to take sides. And I call myself firmly pro-life." (CNN, 10/17/06)
